The funeral of Queen Elizabeth

The state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II takes place in the UK. It was an emotional day for the British public as they bid farewell to their beloved monarch, who died on September 1. 8 and 96 years old. The city shuts down, businesses and schools close. On Monday evening, the Queen’s coffin was lowered into the vault beneath St George’s Chapel, shortly after the Imperial Crown, orb and scepter were removed from the coffin.
The funeral has been held at Westminster Abbey, the gothic church in central London where the Queen was crowned in 1953. His coffin then passed through central London in a funeral procession of more than a mile that involved thousands of British soldiers.
On the sarcophagus was a simple note from King Charles III which read: “In loving and devoted memory – Charles R.”

Many other members of the royal family – from Europe and beyond – were among the more than 2,000 people attending the service at Westminster Abbey. They include King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium and King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain. King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands were present, alongside Queen Margarethe II of Denmark, King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway. Japan’s Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako were present, as were King Abdullah of Jordan, Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia (Sultan Abdullah of Pahang) and King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk of Bhutan.
